Microwave Techniques manufactures waveguide to coaxial transitions, available with several different flange interfaces and configurations. Our standard offering includes probe type and cross-bar designs, from WR90 to WR2300. In addition, we also offer transitions with custom flange interfaces, as well as options for non-standard waveguide sizes. Discuss your needs for standard or custom options with our sales team today.
About Waveguide to Coaxial Transitions
What is a waveguide to coaxial transition? In simple terms, a waveguide to coaxial transition is a microwave/RF transmission device in which one end is a waveguide flange, and the other end is a coaxial connector.
The most critical design considerations for waveguide to coaxial transitions are geometry, as well as the coaxial connector type and gender. On the waveguide side of the transition, considerations include waveguide size (i.e. WR284) and flange type (i.e. CPRF). Typically, the governing factors for selecting a design and type of waveguide to coaxial transition are the specific requirement or application, power levels, as well as the frequency band in use.
Overall, important factors to consider for waveguide to coaxial transitions design includes:
- VSWR
- Waveguide size
- Power handling
- Options for cooling
- Operating frequency
- Waveguide flange type
- Coaxial connector interface
- Gender of coaxial connector
Product Types, Capabilities, and More
Microwave Techniques offers several different types of transitions. For low power applications, such as laboratory testing, we recommend probe-type transitions to type N coaxial line. For high-power applications, we recommend our low VSWR cross-bar design, to provide optimum electrical performance. All standard transitions have fixed flanges.
7/8, 1-5/8, 3-1/8, and 6-1/8 coaxial adaptors for WR1800 and larger waveguides are female. Other rigid coaxial adaptors are male. Additionally, we offer liquid-cooled transitions, as well as adaptors for SC, SMA, and other unique configurations, such as half-height waveguide. An overview of our transition product portfolio includes:
- Probe type
- Cross-bar
- End launch
- Liquid-cooled
- Step transitions
- Taper transitions
- Stoop transitions
- Door-knob transitions
- Magnetron transitions
- Half-height waveguide
- Adaptors for SC, APC-7, SMA, and other configurations
