Dimensions, Product Transport, and Safety
Dimensions
The basic MIP8 tempering tunnel system consists of a 4-foot by 4-foot by 8-foot long cavity. The full system includes also includes an internal oscillating conveyor, up to three generators, a loading conveyor, and an unloading conveyor.
Product Transport
A 20-inch wide, positive drive, articulated belt loads material onto the cavity conveyor and into the tempering cavity. After the loading step is complete, cavity doors shut and microwave tempering automatically begins in the tempering tunnel. While in the tempering mode, the cavity conveyor oscillates the product back and forth to ensure uniform heating. Once the tempering cycle is complete, doors are opened and product is unloaded onto the exit conveyor.
Safety
The MIP8 tempering tunnel offers an abundance of safety features to ensure protection for its users. Interlocking access doors on the generators and process ovens meet applicable government safety standards, including CE compliance. As stated above, the unit also features arc detection, optional light curtains on either end of the tempering tunnel, and emergency stop buttons. In addition, a two-button gate lowering function provides extra protection.
The Advantages and Benefits of Using a Microwave Tempering Tunnel
A microwave tempering tunnel offers food processors several advantages and benefits. They simplify the food tempering process, while also bringing about improvements to your facility cleanliness and your product yield.
By using one of these units, you eliminate the need for tempering rooms and racks. As a result, this also alleviates sanitation issues while bringing about more precision to food processing procedures. In terms of production, tempering tunnels allow for exact planning of input and output on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Thus, giving you better control over your production process. With regards to your product, quality and yield are improved, while drip loss is minimized.
Flavor and protein compounds remain in the product, ultimately passed along to the consumer. To ensure processing flexibility, our industrial microwaves allow for controlled temperature increases and predictable final temperature. Precise final product temperature control is easily configurable with simple time and generator power adjustments.
Why Use A Tempering Tunnel For Your Food Application?
Food processors are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and improve safety. If you’re in the process of exploring microwave technology for your food application, we recommend a tempering tunnel for the following reasons:
- Improve your product quality and final yield.
- Enable predictable final product temperature control.
- Add processing flexiblity through tempering on demand.
- Eliminate the need for rooms, racks, and other cluttered areas.
- Improve worker productivity and safety with less handling sequences.
- Allow for better planning and time management with production runs.
About the MIP8 Tempering Tunnel
What does a microwave tempering tunnel do?
A microwave tempering tunnel enables precise control of product temperature, helping to increase the temperature of frozen product. This then allows for further processing, such as: slicing, grinding, dicing, forming and molding.
Which foods react well to microwave in a tempering tunnel?
Tunnel units work well with various frozen foods. This includes: meats, vegetables, fruits, poultry, and more.
What is a typical throughput amount in one hour?
A microwave indexing tunnel system like the MIP8 can temper 5897 kilograms (13,000 lbs.) in one hour.
What is a suitable environment or system installation location for the MIP8?
Given its adherence to CE safety standards, this unit is suitable for nearly any frozen food processing facility.
