Microwave Techniques offers a full line of waveguide attenuators in fixed and variable precision configurations for high-power applications. While most of our components cover a wide range frequencies, our specialty with attenuators is in high-power waveguide sizes. Common sizes include: WR112, WR187, WR284, WR430, WR650 and WR1150. Microwave Techniques considers development in sizes from WR90 to WR2300+.
Low- to medium-power devices utilize high density shaped microwave absorbing elements, permanently attached to a standard waveguide section. VSWR of the fixed attenuators is less than 1.10:1 over a 10% band.
In addition, the variable units exhibit a 1:15:1 maximum VSWR. As always, when requested, we can supply calibration charts traceable to the National Bureau of Standards.
Waveguide Attenuators: Hybrid Style
For extremely high-power, or for low loss applications, hybrid style variable waveguide attenuators are available. These units, which exhibit a minimum insertion loss of 0.05 dB, can be readily varied to 30 dB attenuation under full transmitter power. Both manual drive and motor driven devices are available to meet the most exacting and demanding system requirements.
Variable Attenuators
Microwave Techniques variable attenuators are constructed to handle the toughest high-power RF applications. The design makes these variable waveguide attenuators capable of providing precise control at extremely high power levels. Precision seals and designs utilizing vacuum bellows allow for reliable pressurization with dry air, nitrogen or SF6.
Furthermore, even achieving Ultra High Vacuum levels in some sizes to increase the power carrying capacity. They are available in manual and stepper motor controlled versions and may include loads or customer requested interfaces.
