Microwave Techniques manufactures waveguide tuners in probe, stub, and E H tuner configurations for high-power microwave and RF applications. We offer each design style in both manual or motorized operations. For high power operation, we utilize non-contacting, single or double bucket short circuit designs. In addition, we also offer low power versions utilizing contacting short circuit designs. Typical waveguide tuners range in sizes from WR90 to WR2300. Probe Tuners
Microwave Techniques waveguide probe tuner designs offer a form of in line waveguide structures, which will match out up to a 1.5:1 VSWR at any phase angle when placed within a waveguide circuit for subsystem optimization.
For high power operation, these devices utilize contacting plunger designs. Three probe waveguide tuners will readily match out a 1.25:1 mismatch. Five probe units will match a 1.5:1 mismatch over a limited bandwidth. Probe tuners are available in manual or motorized operation. Remote readouts and operating panels may be provided upon request.
Stub Tuners
Microwave Techniques waveguide stub tuner designs offer a form of in line waveguide structures, typically used for impedance matching. These units will match out up to a 6:1 VSWR when appropriately placed in a waveguide circuit.
These types of waveguide tuners utilize non-contacting, single, or double bucket short circuit designs for high-power operation. Additionally, low power versions are available utilizing contacting short circuit designs. Single stub units will match out a 2:1 mismatch over a 5% band. Double stub tuners will match out up to a 6:1 mismatch over a 20% bandwidth.
E H Tuners
Microwave Techniques complete line of E H tuners offer a form of in line waveguide structures to be used for impedance matching. These units, which will match out up to a 10:1 VSWR, at any phase throughout the band of operation, utilize MT’s non-contacting, single, our double bucket short circuit designs for high power operation. We also offer low power versions, which are available utilizing contacting short circuit designs.
About Waveguide Tuners
Where are waveguide tuners used? They are utilized in several different microwave applications, including: plasma processing, scientific research, laboratory testing, and a myriad of other industrial microwave processing applications.
What is their main purpose? Tuners are waveguide devices used to match the load impedance with the source impedance. They provide the most effecient coupling of power to the load by minimizing the amount of reflected power.
What kinds of design types are there? There are several different design types of waveguide tuners. Each design serves a unique purpose. Common design types and configurations include: stub, probe, EH, impedance, and autotuners.
